Entry 4 Google Sites (Assignment 3) reflection

I knew that there were many options provided by Google, and I have been using Google Docs for several year, but I had not used Google Sites until this class. Other than a snag I ran into with the permissions on the site, the assignment was relatively simple to do using the GUI interface. It sure is easier than having to learn HTML, PHP, etc. to build a Web site.

From this assignment I learned that the basic elements of a good Web page are:

  • Navigation - use the 3 click principle
  • Layout - consistent
  • Ease of use - no clutter, easy to navigation
  • Consistence -
  • Graphics - smaller file size
  • Call to action - keep the purpose in mind when creating
  • Simplicity - less is more

I was very pleased to learn this information, and have since begun creating a site for my husband's business also using Google Sites.

  1. April,

If you are interested in learning about web design. Please take IT 755. I took it with Dr. Yuen last semester and it was a good class. I learned a lot from it.
